Katie Osborn Spirko, PsyD, HSP, is a forensic and clinical neuropsychologist, licensed in Tennessee as a clinical psychologist with Healthcare Service Provider designation. As part of her doctoral training, she completed a specialty-track clinical internship in neuropsychology at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, where she completed rotations in outpatient neuropsychological assessment and sleep medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and acute inpatient psychiatric services at New Hampshire Hospital, the state's largest secure designated receiving facility for involuntary emergency psychiatric commitments. She subsequently completed a research and clinical postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology within the Neurology Department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was awarded a prestigious Kirschstein-NRSA fellowship grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to pursue research exploring novel cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers of neurodegeneration as early, subclinical indicators of cognitive decline and dementia risk.
Dr. Spirko has testified as an expert witness numerous times in both civil and criminal matters, and at both the state and federal level. She primarily serves State of Tennessee chancery and juvenile courts in Davidson, Williamson, & surrounding counties by conducting comprehensive, unbiased evaluative services to address complex psychological, child welfare, and parenting-related matters. She conducts court-appointed evaluations for parenting and child welfare-related matters, as well as being retained to assess mental health factors in state and federal criminal cases. Dr. Spirko also co-directs our Family Conflict Diversion Program with Ms. Tracy Steyer, LMFT.
As a skilled and well-respected expert witness, Dr. Spirko recognizes the importance of providing clear, direct, and honest testimony. She will prioritize the best interests of your children and will not soft pedal her impressions or recommendations. At the same time, she values transparency and will make every effort to provide ample opportunity for each party and each person's representing counsel to anticipate and adequately prepare for any aspects of her report that may be unfavorable to their case.
Allison Bender, PhD, HSP, is dually licensed in the State of Tennessee as a clinical and school psychologist, with Health Service Provider designation. She earned a Masters of Arts in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Dr. Bender completed pre-doctoral internships in both school and community mental health settings, where she was trained in evidence-based assessment and treatment of children and adults.
With over 25 years providing psychological services in the Nashville area, Dr. Bender brings a wealth of experience to FACTS. For eight years, she served as a school psychologist with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, working with children from preschool through high school. From 2004 to 2021, Dr. Bender was the Clinical Director of the Diagnostic Center at Currey Ingram Academy. She was instrumental in the development of this center, where she provided comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and supervised a team of psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists. Since 2005, she has also maintained a private practice treating individuals age five through adulthood. Dr. Bender is a devoted mentor who has made time throughout her busy clinical career for training graduate students in the delivery of assessment services. She has supervised masters- and doctoral-level students in the delivery of evidence-based assessment services since 1997, including serving as co-director of Vanderbilt’s M.Ed. program in Clinical Psychological Assessment from 2016-2019.
Dr. Bender employs a strengths-based approach to working with her clients. Her philosophy is that both assessments and therapy are most effective when they are a collaborative process, allowing clients to build upon their resources to achieve their goals. She uses a variety of evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavior therapy, parent coaching models, mindfulness-based strategies, and exposure therapies. She also enjoys partnering with her clients to help them identify their inherent strengths while understanding and addressing the circumstances underlying their struggles.
Dr. Bender provides comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological evaluations for a broad range of concerns, such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, specific learning disorders (including dyslexia), developmental delays, mood and anxiety disorders, and intellectual giftedness. Her focus is not only on diagnosis and identification of difficulties but on providing targeted, research-based recommendations that can be implemented to help her clients make meaningful progress and achieve their goals. Dr. Bender accepts clinical referrals for psychological/psychoeducational assessments, as well as performing court-appointed Rule 706/Rule 35 psychological and custodial evaluations in the State of Tennessee.
Dr. Spielman is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University's Master of Science in Nursing program and has experience in inpatient and outpatient treatment settings, having worked effectively with a wide range of mental health conditions and symptom presentations. Prior to entering the mental healthcare field, Dr. Spielman earned a PhD in English and taught for a decade at Penn State. He often leverages his teaching background when empowering clients to collaborate with him in making well-informed decisions about how to best manage their treatment needs. In addition to working with FACTS, Dr. Spielman serves on the Board of Directors for the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute and maintains his own innovative specialty practice, Quirkiatry.

Dr. Spielman treats adults and adolescents (age 13+) for medication management, psychotherapy & biofeedback, and psychiatric/diagnostic assessment services. He especially enjoys working with attorneys and others in high-stress, demanding professional environments who are seeking relief from situationally-based depression and anxiety symptoms and/or experiencing problems with attention and sustained focus.
Dr. Spielman is currently accepting new patients. He can typically accommodate same-week or even next-day appointments for individuals with urgent outpatient mental health treatment needs.
Zandre Labuschagne, PhD, HSP, is a licensed counseling psychologist in the State of Tennessee, with Health Service Provider designation. She earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a subspecialty in sport psychology from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Dr. Labuschagne completed her pre-doctoral internship at Vanderbilt University Psychological and Counseling Center where she was trained in evidence-based assessment and treatment of young adults. She also completed a rotation in Pain Psychology at Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Medical Center in Murfreesboro, where she received evidence-based training in the assessment and treatment of chronic pain. Dr. Labuschagne completed her postdoctoral training at The Diagnostic Center at Currey Ingram Academy where she trained in evidence-based assessment of children and adults.
Dr. Labuschagne provides comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological evaluations for a variety of concerns, such as specific learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia), developmental delays, ADHD, mood disorders, and intellectual giftedness. She utilizes empirically supported measurements to better understand an individual’s cognitive, academic, and social-emotional profiles. She takes a strengths-based approach and provides targeted, evidence-based recommendations to help her clients achieve their goals. Dr. Labuschagne accepts clinical referrals for psychoeducational and psychological evaluations.
Prior to focusing primarily on assessments, Dr. Labuschagne provided individual and group therapy to young adults in college counseling settings. She also enjoyed providing sport psychology services and mental skills training to Division I Collegiate athletes. As a former Olympian and Division I Collegiate athlete, Dr. Labuschagne has a unique understanding of the mental aspects that impact performance.

Robyn oversees the business operations at FACTS, helping to ensure efficiency and effectiveness for our clients, our attorneys, and our team of providers. She holds a Master of Liberal Arts & Science from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Arts from Middle Tennessee State University. With over 20 years of experience in operational and administrative leadership, Robyn has a proven track record in successfully managing complex projects, a commitment to and talent for streamlining and optimizing processes, and a passion for fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion.
Ms. Lovett earned her Associate of Health Science degree from South College in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, complemented by double minors in Mental Health Services and Sociology at Middle Tennessee State University. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Ms. Lovett intends to embark on her graduate program. With diverse professional experience working with children and adolescents, she began her internship with FACTS. In her role, Ms. Lovett is responsible for coordinating meetings between clients, attorneys, and providers. Additionally, she will be shadowing all providers during court-involved cases and assisting in their preparation, thereby enhancing her practical experience in the field.
Mr. Smith is a committed member of the FACTS team, having joined in 2022. He possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lipscomb University and plays a pivotal role in collaborating with attorneys and staff to draft comprehensive reports and review pertinent records. Mr. Smith aspires to advance his education by pursuing both a PhD in Clinical Psychology and a Juris Doctor degree. Through this dual focus, he aims to enhance his ability to support families in need of expertise in family law and clinical psychology.
